Am
Samstag durchbrach die Sonne die Wolkendecke und wir beschlossen nach dem
Frühstück die Gelegenheit beim Schopf zu packen und Utrecht einen Besuch abzustatten...
Wie bereits erwähnt, wuchs meine Mutter in Utrecht auf und kam gleich nach dem
2. Weltkrieg als 10 -Jährige für ein Jahr zu einer Pflegefamilie in die Schweiz
weil zuhause alles in Schutt und Asche lag... Nun nahmen wir die Stunde und 60
km unter die Räder und standen um 14 Uhr im Zentrum der Universitätsstadt. Das
letzte Mal war ich vor 4 Jahren mit meiner Mutter in Holland und ganz Utrecht
stand unter Renovation, so dass wir gleich wieder umkehrten kaum waren wir
angekommen! Die Bauerei hat sich aber gelohnt und Utrecht ist viel gemütlicher
und bunter geworden. Holland ist sehr innovativ, vor allem auch in der Architektur:
So überraschten sie schon vor Jahren mit Tunnels unter Flüssen und integrierten
immer schon Ultra-Modernes mit dem liebevoll renovierten Antiken – zeitlos! ::
)
On Saturday the sun broke through the clouds and after breakfast we decided to grab the opportunity and pay a visit to Utrecht... As already mentioned, my mum grew up in Utrecht and came to Switzerland as a 10-year-old right after World War II. A foster family took care of her for a year because at home everything was in ruins... Now we took the hour and 60 km under the wheels and stood in the centre of the university town at 2 pm. The last time I was 4 years ago with my mum in Holland and the whole of Utrecht was under renovation, so we turned back as soon as we had arrived! But the construction was worth it and Utrecht has become much cozier and more colourful. Holland is very innovative, especially in terms of architecture: for example, years ago they surprised with tunnels under rivers and always integrate ultra-modern items with lovingly renovated antiques - timeless! : ))

Zeitlos und
ohne Uhr machen auch wir hier in Holland wonach wir Lust haben und wozu das
Wetter uns einlädt… Nach einem Rundgang durch die Altstadt ruhten wir auf einer
der Schuttevears Grachtenboten (https://www.schuttevaer.com) aus, die uns in 1 1/2 Stunden die hübsche Stadt
vom Wasser aus bestaunen liess. Dort erfuhr ich, dass Utrecht um 47 von den
Römern gegründet wurde und die meisten Prachtbauten aus dem 12. Jahrhundert
stammen...
Timeless and without a watch we do here in Holland what we feel like and what the weather invites us to... After a tour through the old town, we rested on one of the Schuttevears canal boats (https://www.schuttevaer.com), marvelling at the pretty city passing by from on the water in 1 1/2 hours. There I learned that Utrecht was founded by the Romans in the year 47 and that most of the magnificent buildings date from the 12th century...

Bevor es
wieder zurück nach Zandvoort ging, stärkten wir uns im King Kumpir (https://www.potae.nl) mit ihren
Kartoffelspezialitäten: Süsskartoffel Frites und Baked Potato mit Avocado und
Sour Cream - himmlisch!
Before we went back to Zandvoort, we fortified ourselves at the King Kumpir (https://www.potae.nl) with their potato specialties: sweet potato fries and baked potato with avocado and sour cream - heavenly!

Am
Sonntag regnete es wieder horizontal so windig war es! Also ein Ruhetag
zuhause... ohne Programm... zeitlos, wie wir meistens unterwegs sind! : ) Den
täglichen Hering gab es auf dem Boulevard und leckeres Thai-Food fanden wir um
die Ecke bei Khao Thai (http://www.khao-thai.info) zum Mitnehmen und Geniessen in der warmen Stube! : )

Sunday it rained horizontally again, that windy it was! That meant a
day of rest at home... without a programme... timeless, as we spend most of our
time here! : ) The daily herring was available on the boulevard and we found
delicious Thai food around the corner at Khao Thai (http://www.khao-thai.info) to take away and enjoy in
the cozy apartment! : )
